sledging

Downhill winter pastime

Sledging has two distinct meanings.

The first is riding on a sled, typically down a snowy hill: The children went sledging after the first snowfall.

The second, primarily British and Australian, is the cricket practice of verbally taunting opposing players to break their concentration—trash talk meant to unsettle a batsman: The bowler was warned for sledging.
