simple fracture
Clean bone break
A simple fracture is a broken bone that doesn't pierce the skin, as opposed to a compound fracture where bone protrudes through flesh.
The term is medical but widely understood: The X-ray showed a simple fracture of the wrist.
Simple here means uncomplicated, not easy—any broken bone hurts.
