sign-off

End of transmission

Sign-off is the act of ending something formally—a broadcast, a letter, a work session.

A radio host's sign-off might be a signature phrase; a letter's sign-off is the closing before the signature: Best regards, Yours truly.

To sign off is to conclude: I'm going to sign off for the night.

To sign off on something is to approve it officially: The director signed off on the budget.
