sigmoidoscope
Lower bowel camera
A sigmoidoscope is a medical instrument inserted through the anus to examine the lower portion of the large intestine—the sigmoid colon and rectum.
The device allows doctors to view the intestinal lining, take tissue samples, or remove polyps.
The doctor recommended a sigmoidoscopy after the patient reported rectal bleeding.
