rotifer
Ciliated microscopic invertebrate
A rotifer is a microscopic aquatic animal, typically less than a millimeter long, found in freshwater environments worldwide.
Rotifers have a distinctive wheel-like ring of cilia around their mouths that creates currents to draw in food particles—the name comes from Latin for "wheel-bearer." They're common subjects in biology classes as easily observable microorganisms.
