refitting
Overhauling for service
Refitting is the process of equipping something again, typically a ship or building, with new parts, equipment, or fixtures.
A vessel might undergo refitting to modernize its systems or repair damage: The aircraft carrier spent eighteen months refitting at the naval yard.
The term applies broadly to any renovation that replaces or upgrades existing components.
