unredact
Restore hidden text
To unredact is to reveal text that was previously blacked out or obscured in a document.
Redaction hides sensitive information; unredacting exposes it again: The court ordered the agency to unredact the classified portions.
The term arose with digital documents, where redaction can sometimes be reversed if done improperly.
