Pripyat
Nuclear ghost town
Pripyat is a city in northern Ukraine, built in 1970 to house workers at the nearby Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
After the 1986 reactor explosion, the city was evacuated within days and remains abandoned, a ghost town frozen in Soviet-era decay.
It has become a symbol of nuclear disaster and a destination for disaster tourists: We visited Pripyat to see the empty apartment blocks and rusting Ferris wheel.
