endothermic
Requires heat input
Endothermic describes a chemical reaction or process that absorbs heat from its surroundings.
When something endothermic occurs, the temperature of the environment drops because energy is being pulled in rather than released.
The dissolving of ammonium nitrate in water is endothermic, which is why instant cold packs get cold when activated.
The opposite is exothermic, which releases heat.
