coronary bypass
Cardiac detour surgery
Coronary bypass is a surgical procedure that reroutes blood flow around blocked or narrowed coronary arteries.
Surgeons graft a blood vessel from elsewhere in the body—typically the leg or chest—to bypass the obstruction and restore blood supply to the heart muscle.
The full term is coronary artery bypass graft, often abbreviated CABG and pronounced "cabbage": He had a triple bypass last year.
