quizzing

Testing someone's knowledge

Quizzing is the act of asking someone questions, often to test knowledge or extract information.

A teacher quizzes students on vocabulary; a reporter quizzes a politician about policy.

The word can suggest informal interrogation: She kept quizzing me about where I'd been.

In British English, quizzing sometimes carries a sense of looking at someone curiously or skeptically.
