factoids

Bite-sized information morsels

Factoids are small, often trivial pieces of information presented as facts.

The word originally meant something false or unverified that gets repeated until people assume it's true—a pseudo-fact.

But usage has shifted, and factoid now usually just means a brief, interesting tidbit: The magazine sidebar was full of factoids about celebrity pets.

The "-oid" suffix (meaning "resembling") preserves a hint of dubiousness.
