lecturing
Delivering a speech
Lecturing is the act of delivering a formal talk or educational presentation, typically to students or an audience: She's lecturing on Renaissance art this semester.
The word often carries a negative sense of speaking at someone in a preachy, condescending, or tediously prolonged way: I don't need you lecturing me about my choices.
The first sense is neutral; the second implies the speaker has made themselves unwelcome.
