putaway

Return to storage

A putaway is the act of storing something in its designated location, especially in warehouse and inventory contexts: The putaway process took longer than expected.

In sports, particularly tennis and volleyball, a putaway is a decisive shot that ends the point—one the opponent cannot return.

As a verb phrase, to put away means to store, consume entirely (He put away three burgers), or confine someone to prison or a psychiatric facility.
