profilers
Pattern-seeking investigators
Profilers are tools or people that analyze patterns to build profiles.
In computing, a profiler examines how software runs—measuring memory use, execution time, or performance bottlenecks: Run the profiler to find what's slowing down the code.
In law enforcement, profilers study crime scenes and behavior to construct psychological portraits of unknown suspects.
The term also describes those who engage in racial or demographic profiling—targeting people based on group characteristics rather than individual behavior.
