profiles
Brief biographical sketches
Profiles are outlines or side views—the shape of a face seen from the side, or any silhouette showing an object's edge.
The word extends to summaries of essential characteristics: a profile of a company, a criminal profile, a dating profile.
To profile someone is to analyze or describe their key traits.
A high profile draws attention; a low profile avoids it.
Profiling often refers to law enforcement targeting individuals based on demographic characteristics: racial profiling.
