presbyter
Ordained religious elder
Presbyter is an elder or ordained minister in certain Christian churches, particularly those with Presbyterian or Episcopal governance.
The term comes from Greek for "elder" and sits between deacon and bishop in traditional church hierarchy.
In Presbyterian churches, presbyters (also called elders) share authority in governing bodies called presbyteries.
The presbyter led the congregation in prayer.
