preop
Awaiting the scalpel
Preop is short for preoperative—the period or procedures before surgery.
A preop exam checks that a patient is ready for an operation.
Preop instructions tell you when to stop eating.
In transgender contexts, preop describes someone who hasn't yet had gender-affirming surgery: She's preop but hoping to schedule surgery next year.
