pop-up book

Pages with sculptures

A pop-up book is a book with illustrations that rise into three-dimensional form when pages are opened.

Paper engineering creates figures that fold flat when closed but spring upward through tabs, flaps, and folded mechanisms.

Most are children's books, though elaborate examples exist for adult collectors: The pop-up book featured a castle that rose six inches from the page.
