polygraph
Truthfulness measuring device
A polygraph is a device that monitors physiological responses—heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, skin conductivity—while a person answers questions, on the theory that lying produces detectable stress.
Commonly called a lie detector, though its reliability is disputed.
He was asked to take a polygraph.
Polygraph also refers to the test itself or, rarely, to a device that produces multiple copies of writing.
