Miranda rights
Postarrest legal recitation
Miranda rights are the constitutional protections that American police must inform suspects of before custodial interrogation: the right to remain silent, the warning that statements can be used against them, and the right to an attorney.
Named after the 1966 Supreme Court case Miranda v.
Arizona.
The officer read him his Miranda rights before questioning.
To be Mirandized is to receive this warning.
