Mind reading is the supposed ability to perceive another person's thoughts directly, without communication.
In fiction and paranormal claims, it's telepathy.
In everyday use, it describes intuiting what someone is thinking: After twenty years of marriage, it's practically mind reading.
The phrase often appears in complaints about unrealistic expectations: I'm not a mind reader—you have to tell me what you want.
