AED
Cardiac emergency device
AED stands for automated external defibrillator, a portable device that delivers an electric shock to restore normal heart rhythm during cardiac arrest.
AEDs are designed for use by bystanders without medical training—the device analyzes heart rhythm and provides voice instructions: I grabbed the AED from the wall and followed the prompts.
They're commonly mounted in airports, gyms, and offices.
