pharmacopeia
Official medicine list
A pharmacopeia is an official reference book listing drugs and medicines with their preparations, uses, and standards of purity.
National pharmacopeias establish which substances are approved for medical use and how they should be compounded.
More loosely, pharmacopeia refers to any collection of drugs: the pharmacopeia of traditional Chinese medicine, the physician's personal pharmacopeia of trusted remedies.
Also spelled pharmacopoeia.
