thesauri

Books of equivalents

Thesauri is the Latin plural of thesaurus, a reference work that groups words by meaning rather than alphabetically.

Some writers prefer thesauri as the formal or scholarly plural, though thesauruses is equally correct and more common in everyday use: She kept several thesauri on her desk.
