absolute values
Numbers without signs
Absolute values are numbers considered without regard to their positive or negative sign—their distance from zero on a number line.
The absolute value of both 5 and -5 is 5.
In notation, vertical bars indicate absolute value: |−7| = 7.
The concept extends to measuring magnitude without direction in various mathematical contexts.
