pathologic

Concerning illness processes

Pathologic is a less common variant of pathological, meaning related to or caused by disease.

In medical contexts, it describes conditions, processes, or changes that result from illness rather than normal function: The biopsy revealed pathologic changes in the tissue.

It also extends to behavior or mental states that are abnormally extreme or compulsive: pathologic lying, pathologic jealousy.

The form pathological is more frequent in both technical and general usage.
