pantile

Curved roofing segment

A pantile is a roofing tile with an S-shaped cross-section, designed so that the curved edge of one tile overlaps the curved edge of its neighbor.

This interlocking pattern creates a distinctive wavy appearance common on buildings in parts of Northern Europe and colonial American architecture: the red pantile roofs of Amsterdam.
