Nonaligned describes a nation that refuses to ally with major power blocs, particularly during the Cold War when countries like India and Yugoslavia remained nonaligned with either the United States or Soviet Union.
The term extends to any stance of deliberate neutrality: The organization remains nonaligned on partisan issues.
