noninvolvement
Keeping one's distance
Noninvolvement is the state of not participating in or being connected to something.
The term often appears in political contexts—a policy of noninvolvement in foreign conflicts, or noninvolvement in another nation's internal affairs.
It can also describe personal detachment: His noninvolvement in his children's lives was a source of regret.
