neo-fascists

Contemporary far-right extremists

Neo-fascists are adherents of movements that revive or adapt fascist ideology—typically combining ultranationalism, authoritarianism, and hostility toward liberal democracy.

The prefix neo- (new) distinguishes contemporary groups from the original Italian and German fascist movements of the early twentieth century.

Neo-fascist groups may embrace or deny the label depending on strategic considerations: Neo-fascists clashed with counterprotesters outside the rally.
