resistance fighters
Armed opposition members
Resistance fighters are members of an organized effort to oppose an occupying military force or oppressive regime, typically through guerrilla tactics, sabotage, or underground networks.
The term carries heroic connotations—those called resistance fighters are usually viewed sympathetically, while the same people might be labeled terrorists or insurgents by their opponents.
French resistance fighters helped Allied forces during World War II.
