near-infrared

Just beyond red

Near-infrared refers to the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum just beyond visible red light, with wavelengths roughly between 700 and 2500 nanometers.

It's invisible to human eyes but detected by specialized sensors.

Near-infrared imaging has applications in night vision, medical diagnostics, and remote sensing: Near-infrared spectroscopy can measure blood oxygen levels through the skin.
