hyperspectral

Beyond normal color-sensing

Hyperspectral describes imaging technology that captures light across many narrow, contiguous bands of the electromagnetic spectrum—far more than the three (red, green, blue) of ordinary cameras.

Where a standard photograph records what the eye sees, hyperspectral imaging reveals chemical and material properties invisible to humans: Hyperspectral sensors can detect crop disease before visible symptoms appear.

The technology is used in remote sensing, agriculture, mineral exploration, and art authentication.
