reflectance

Light bounce measure

Reflectance is the proportion of light or radiation that a surface reflects, expressed as a ratio or percentage.

A mirror has high reflectance; a black velvet curtain has low reflectance.

The term appears in physics, photography, and climate science, where surface reflectance affects how much solar energy the Earth absorbs: Snow has a much higher reflectance than bare soil.
