Spiral-tusked sea mammal
Narwhale is a less common spelling of narwhal, the Arctic whale known for the long spiral tusk that projects from the male's head.
This tusk, actually an elongated tooth, can grow up to ten feet and inspired medieval legends of unicorns.
Narwhals live in frigid northern waters and travel in pods.
We spotted a pod of narwhales surfacing near the ice floe.
