tarot cards

Divination playing cards

Tarot cards are a deck of 78 illustrated cards used for fortune-telling and divination.

The deck includes 22 major arcana cards depicting archetypal figures and concepts—Death, the Fool, the Tower—and 56 minor arcana organized into four suits.

A reader lays out cards in patterns called spreads and interprets their positions and relationships: She had her tarot cards read at the fair.

Tarot also serves meditation, self-reflection, and artistic inspiration beyond mystical practice.
