mineralizing
Turning to stone
Mineralizing is the process of converting organic matter into mineral form, or of adding minerals to something.
In biology, bones and teeth mineralize as calcium and other minerals deposit in tissue.
Water becomes mineralized by dissolving minerals from rock.
In geology, mineralizing refers to the formation of mineral deposits: The hydrothermal vents were actively mineralizing the surrounding rock.
