Submicron particle separator
A microfilter is a small device that separates different frequency signals on a telephone line, allowing DSL internet and voice calls to operate simultaneously without interference.
Before widespread fiber optic installation, microfilters were standard equipment in homes with DSL service, plugged into phone jacks to prevent the high-pitched whine of data transmission from bleeding into voice calls.
I had to install a microfilter on every phone jack in the house.
