melting point
Solid becomes liquid
Melting point is the temperature at which a solid becomes liquid.
Every pure substance has a characteristic melting point—ice melts at 32°F (0°C), gold at 1,948°F.
The term extends figuratively to the moment when resistance gives way: After hours of negotiation, we finally reached his melting point.
