magnetic poles
North and south
The magnetic poles are the two points on Earth where the planet's magnetic field lines converge vertically—magnetic north and magnetic south.
These differ from geographic poles and shift gradually over time.
Magnets also have poles: the north pole attracts a south pole and repels another north.
Opposite poles attract; like poles repel.
