machinima

Gaming engine films

Machinima is filmmaking using video game engines to create animated movies.

The technique emerged in the 1990s when players began recording gameplay to tell stories, using game environments as virtual film sets and character models as actors.

The word blends "machine" and "cinema." They made a whole machinima series using Halo.
