claymation
Sculpted stop-motion technique
Claymation is stop-motion animation using clay or plasticized figures.
Each frame captures the figures in slightly different positions; when played in sequence, they appear to move.
The technique requires painstaking manipulation between shots. *Wallace and Gromit* and early *Gumby* episodes are classic examples.
The term blends "clay" and "animation."
