motion-capture
Recording body movement
Motion-capture is a technology that records the movements of actors or objects and translates them into digital animation.
Sensors or cameras track positions of markers placed on a performer's body, capturing motion data that animators apply to computer-generated characters.
The technique is standard in video games and CGI-heavy films: The dragon's movements came from motion-capture sessions with a dancer.
Often shortened to mo-cap.
