lymph gland

Body's drainage station

Lymph gland is a common but technically imprecise term for lymph node—a small, bean-shaped structure in the lymphatic system that filters lymph fluid and helps fight infection.

These nodes are clustered in areas like the neck, armpits, and groin, and often swell noticeably when the body is fighting illness.

The doctor felt the lymph glands in my neck to check for swelling.

Medical professionals generally prefer lymph node since these structures aren't true glands.
