low tide zone
Beach at ebb
The low tide zone is the area of shoreline exposed only during the lowest tides, spending most of its time submerged.
This narrow band supports the richest diversity of intertidal life—sea stars, anemones, kelp, urchins—organisms that tolerate only brief exposure to air.
Also called the lower intertidal zone.
