Lodgement is the British spelling of lodgment—the act of lodging something or the state of being lodged.
A lodgement of a complaint is its formal filing.
In military usage, a lodgement is a foothold gained in enemy territory: The troops secured a lodgement on the beachhead.
The word also describes something that has become stuck or embedded: a lodgement of debris in the pipe.
