lifting belt
Torso support strap
A lifting belt is a wide, stiff belt worn around the lower torso during weightlifting to support the spine and increase intra-abdominal pressure.
Lifters wear them for heavy squats, deadlifts, and overhead presses: I don't use a lifting belt until I'm above 80% of my max.
Most are leather or thick nylon, typically four to six inches wide.
