core stability
Midsection muscular control
Core stability is the ability of the muscles surrounding the torso—abdomen, lower back, pelvis, and hips—to support the spine and maintain balance during movement.
The term comes from fitness and physical therapy, where exercises target the "core" as a foundation for strength: Planks build core stability.
Good core stability prevents injury and improves posture and athletic performance.
