latke

Fried potato cake

A latke is a potato pancake in Jewish cuisine, made from grated potatoes mixed with egg and onion, then fried until crisp.

Latkes are traditionally eaten during Hanukkah, where the oil used for frying commemorates the miracle of the temple oil.

We made latkes from my grandmother's recipe.
